We’re here to confirm that yes, we are in fact wearing UGG boots… again. Love them or hate them, UGG boots are back to being the “it” boot of the season, just maybe not quite as you knew them.
If you’ve been paying attention to A-listers this winter, then you probably saw this coming. Over the past year, reformed versions of the Australian boots have been spotted on Hailey Bieber, Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid, and more. We’re sharing the rise and fall of the beloved boots and styles that celebs and average Joe’s alike can’t get enough of.
“New year, new me,” said UGG – probably.
The Rise & Fall of UGG Boots
In the early 2000s, the UGG boot craze took off and although there was absolutely no logical reason to need every style and color of these boots, women everywhere decided they did. UGGs were paired with boho dresses, mini jean skirts, denim, and even yoga pants. They saturated the market and just like every overwhelming fad, they quickly lost flavor and became “basic” before basic was even a thing.
By 2010 or 2011, you wouldn’t be caught dead in UGG boots other than slumming it around the house. If a celebrity wore them, it was for practicality and not for style. For some reason, UGGs made every “styles you wish would go away” list. Apparently everyone had it with bulky boots and swapped them out for sleek and likely leather boots.
Not for long, though. Thanks to celebrity endorsement, they’re back and better than ever nearly two decades after their heyday. It really shouldn’t be all that surprising given the boom of loungewear and dressing for comfort among A-listers.
Current Popular Styles
1. Classic Ultra Mini Boot
This mini boot has earned Hollywood’s stamp of approval this season. This style was actually introduced last year but new emerging colors are contributing to the shoe’s success. That, and the fact that they’re more discreet than the brand’s former styles. The mini version is light, comfortable, and easy to dress up or down. Make them your go to for running errands, walking the dog, or just walking around the house.
Many of the classic colors are out of stock or difficult to find currently but you can find it in red ribbon or sky at Nordstrom.
Price: $140
2. Tazz Platform Slippers
These may be dubbed slippers but it’s 100% acceptable to wear them outdoors (UGG even says so themselves). Celebrities and influencers are wearing these mules everywhere, which has us convinced we need them for our winter wardrobe. Keep your toes cozy in the mules lined in UGG’s signature faux-shearling that also features a braided trim adding a pop of color to the neutral palette.
These shoes are so popular, it’s hard to get your hands on them. Keep your eye out for them at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Dillards.

3. Neumel Chukka Boot
Maybe you’ve seen these before, maybe not. These lace up boots pair perfectly with your favorite jeans and shacket or they’re a nice cozy treat for your tired, cold feet once you get off the slopes. Size down for the perfect fit.
You can get it in the ankle length as pictured above, or the taller version for the same price. Snag the classy suede boot in chestnut, burnt olive, violet, black, or red from Nordstrom.

4. Classic Boot
Last but not least, throw it back to none other than the classic boot that started it all. This boot comes in mini (not to be confused with the ultra mini), short or tall and the most popular colors are chestnut, tan and black.
The water and stain resistant fabric makes these not only chic and comfortable, but extremely practical as you trek through winter slush. These have been seen on the likes of Gigi Hadid and Gisele Bundchen as of late. Get yours at Nordstrom or pretty much anywhere with a simple Google search.
Price: $170-200
If there’s one thing to learn from this, it’s that the fashion industry is no exception to history repeating itself. The iconic UGG boots are here to stay this time.
